Shiromani Akali Dal Patriarch and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, 94, was sent to the hero of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana after testing positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday afternoon Heart Institute.
The institute’s medical director, Dr Bishav Mohan, said Badal had tested positive in a rapid antigen test while his RTPCR report was pending. “Due to his age and comorbidities, he is in a vulnerable group and must be admitted and kept under observation for further medical investigation,” said Dr. Mohan.A team led by DMCH’s Covid Medicine Professor, Emergency Director and Node Officer Dr Rajesh Mahajan and pulmonologist Dr Anil Kumar Kashyap is monitoring the health of the senior politician.
In a media release, hospital authorities said Badal is in stable condition and is currently in the private ward area. All surveys required to complete the assessment have been sent to the laboratory.
