The ministerial meeting of the India-France-Australia trilateral group that was originally scheduled to be held during the UN General Assembly has now been cancelled. This is a consequence of AUKUS-the trilateral security agreement between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States made Paris furious.
The trilateral ministerial meeting will see Minister of Foreign Affairs S Jaishankar discussing with colleagues from Australia (Marise Payne) and France (Jean-Yves Le Drian). But France withdrew from the re-organization of AUKUS.
After announcing this new safety agreement, France was very angry. The agreement noticed that Australia had canceled its US$66 million diesel submarine contract with France. Instead, Australia will now acquire nuclear submarines built by the United Kingdom and the United States, while the United States rarely uses the necessary technology. France even withdrew its envoys from Washington and Canberra in protest, and cancelled its defense dialogue with Britain.
