GMDA to build green along 300 km roads in Gurugram

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority on Thursday said it plans to develop a green belt along with the city’s 300-km road network in the next three years.

Officials said the focus of this financial year is on 100 km and in some parts the work of digging the soil, adding fertilizer and fencing has started.

Subhash Yadav, Divisional Forest Officer of GMDA and Head of Urban Environment Department, told the media during the 8th Authority meeting with the Chief Minister, the total road connectivity in the areas under the jurisdiction of GMDA was calculated to be around 300 km and it was determined that belts can be developed along the green roads.

As a result, fencing has been laid to protect the plants from destruction and to keep them safe from encroachment. Yadav said that during monsoon, GMDA will plant saplings and the target is to cover a distance of 100 km in the first phase.
