Back in September, Google added support for uploading image watermarks in Docs, and it’s now easy to create your own background text identifiers.
Insert > Watermark on the web will open a side panel with a new text tab next to the image. You can customize font, size (automatically available), bold/italic/underline, transparency, and diagonal or horizontal position simply by inserting text.
You can still “insert image watermarks or images above or below text”. Also, Google Docs preserves text watermarks when importing or exporting Microsoft Word files.
This feature is still rolling out and will be generally available to “all Google Workspace customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers” in the coming weeks. It also didn’t show up on the accounts we checked today.
