The Delhi government’s free online yoga class “Dilli Ki Yogshala” for home-isolated patients started last week, officials said.
In a statement, the Delhi government said the courses would not only boost immunity but also help patients recover quickly from Covid-19.
On January 11, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced free online yoga classes by professionally trained teachers for Covid-19 patients being treated at home. Patients can sign up for an online yoga class by clicking on a link sent to them by the health department. So far, more than 3,000 people have participated in the program.
Only 15 patients were assigned to a yoga instructor so they could receive better care and personal attention. Currently, the Delhi government has hired hundreds of professionally trained yoga instructors and is training new ones.
Dr Munesh Kasana, a resident from East Kailash and a Covid patient, said: “As Covid affects the lungs, we have learned special asanas and pranayama in our yoga classes to make sure our oxygen levels don’t drop. The government’s I’m so impressed with the initiative, and I’m promoting it in my family.”
