Harak Singh Rawat, who was sacked by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Uttarakhand on Saturday, is likely to join the Congress party today, news agency ANI reported. This comes a few weeks before the Hill State Assembly election.
Rawat, a BJP MLA, was also expelled from the BJP for six years for indiscipline.
The decision to remove Rawat from the cabinet was made during a BJP Uttarakhand caucus meeting at the party headquarters in Delhi on Saturday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dami, state poll chief Prahad Joshi and others attended the meeting.
Why was Harak Singh Rawat fired?
Harak Singh Rawat has not followed the example of the BJP and has repeatedly created problems over the past five years, according to the Hindustan Times sister publication Livehindustan.
According to Livehindustan, grassroots workers at the BJP also expressed dissatisfaction with him. Workers are unhappy with the excessive focus on the leader who joined the BJP from Congress with Rawat. Rawat recently left a cabinet meeting attended by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dami. “Rawat is angry”
Citing close aides of Rawat, the news agency ANI reported that he had been pressuring top BJP leaders to give himself, his daughter-in-law, Anukriti Gossain and one of his colleagues in the upcoming parliamentary polls. supporters voted.
“Harak Singh Rawat and his daughter-in-law have gone to Delhi. Rawat is angry because Anukriti Gusain didn’t get a ticket,” a close aide to Rawat told ANI.
The aide further said that both Rawat and Gusain could join Congress if the latter does not get the BJP’s vote.
BJP’s tough message
