Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar was full of praise for India’s 28-year-old star Jasprit Bumrah, while calling India’s T20I team “spoiled” in their bowling department.
Gavaska’s comments came shortly after India’s 3-0 win over West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. However, due to workload management, Bumrah did not play in the series as he was resting.
In an interview with Star Sports, Gavasca also praised Deepak Chahal’s ability to swing the ball to either side without a noticeable change in movement. The legendary batsman then hailed India’s abundance of tempo options for the T20 World Cup squad and added Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj to the list.
“He’s a great swing bowler. He also has extra speed. He’s not fast, but he moves the ball well, which makes it difficult for batsmen. And he has both an inside swing and an outside swing. , but there was no noticeable change in action, which made the game difficult. So when you have guys like him and you have Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the bench after two great performances in the series, India is bowling Wealth in terms of luck is lucky,” he said.
“There’s Bumra. Don’t forget him he’ll go to any team in the world, not just India, any team. Then you’ll be spoilt for choice with Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami.”
Bumrah will be back home for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starting in Lucknow on February 24.
Bhuvneshwar, Chahar and Siraj are also included, along with Avesh Khan, who only made his debut for India in his third T20I against West Indies. Both Shami and Shardul Thakur rested for the series.
