Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to chair review meeting on dengue situation in Delhi today

Officials said that due to the surge in dengue cases in Delhi, the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will chair a review meeting on Monday. According to officials, the meeting will be held at 10 am. During the meeting, the Minister of Health will also discuss how the center can assist the Delhi government led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to curb the surge in cases.

Officials from the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and the National Vector-borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP) will also attend the meeting. With the arrival of the monsoon every year, dengue fever erupts in the city, which usually ends with the arrival of winter.

However, this year, the city’s cases continue to increase. Doctors earlier stated that although the prevalence of serotype 2 dengue virus is associated with a higher risk of serious illness, most people do not show severe symptoms. Dengue virus causes fever and bleeding symptoms and is associated with more serious illnesses.

According to a citizen report released on Monday last week, Delhi has reported more than 1,000 cases of dengue fever this year and more than 280 cases have been recorded last week. Of the total number of dengue fever cases this season, 665 cases were recorded in the previous 23 years.
