High-grade explosives used in Ludhiana court blast; victim yet to be identified

After preliminary analysis, the forensic team and the bomb detection and disposal team determined that “a considerable amount of high-level explosives was used” in the Ludhiana court bombing on Thursday. “High-grade explosives are usually PETN (pentaerythritol tetranitrate) or RDX (Royal Explosive Explosive),” said a source. The explosion in Punjab killed one person and injured five others. “The next few hours are critical, because the final test will determine the exact composition of the bomb and confirm whether shrapnel was used, etc.,” the source said.

According to the police, the explosion occurred at around 12:22 pm in the toilets on the second floor of the Ludhiana District and Sessions Court Building.

At the same time, sources said that the identity of the victim of the Ludhiana court bombing has not been determined because the body has been mutilated beyond recognition. Only one tattoo can be seen on the corpse, which can provide some clues to the identity of the deceased. The deceased was a man between 30 and 35 years old.

After preliminary investigations, NSG and police officials believed that the deceased was the person who planted the bomb in the courtroom. “He may have brought the bomb to the court building. When he started to activate the bomb, the bomb exploded,” an official said.

NSG is studying several clues and clues found at the scene of the incident.
