Highlights: Phase 1 polling ends for 58 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh

The first stage of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections has been voted. A whopping 227 million voters in 58 seats decided the fate of 623 candidates. The first phase covers the Jat-dominated belt in the western region of the UP. The voting process was peaceful and no violence was reported. However, there have been reports of EVM and VVPAT malfunctioning at some polling stations. The polling authority said the complaints would be resolved immediately.

Voting for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh has ended. According to the latest electoral commission voter turnout was 58.82%.

UP records nearly 58% voter turnout so far

According to the latest trends from the Election Commission, the voter turnout in Uttar Pradesh as of now is 57.79%.

Ariega – 57.25%

Bulandshahr – 60.57%

GB Nagar- 53.48%

Akhilesh says BJP should keep silent on previous declaration
