The Himachal Pradesh government has lifted a ban on social and religious gatherings after a recent surge in Covid-19 cases. However, such a congregation would be bound by a strict rider.
According to the latest order issued by State Executive Committee Chairman and Principal Secretary Ram Subhag Singh, all social and religious gatherings including marriages can be accommodated at up to 50% capacity and indoor/buildings up to 100 people – up/covered area (whichever is lower). Such gatherings can be held at up to 50% capacity and up to 300 people, whichever is lower, in open spaces or outdoor areas.
Gatherings should be given advance notice to district or sub-district administrations, and local administrations may impose other conditions on organizers as they see fit in light of the local Covid-19 situation.
“District administrations should develop a mechanism to monitor permits granted for such events and should strictly adhere to Covid-19 appropriate conduct and safety protocols during these gatherings,” the order said.
Earlier, in an order issued last Sunday, the government banned social and religious gatherings. However, academic, athletic, recreational, cultural, political and other gatherings can be accommodated at up to 50% capacity, with a maximum of 100 people indoors and a maximum of 300 people outdoors.
