CDS Bipin Rawat funeral update: Hundreds of people gathered outside the residence of General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defense Staff in Delhi, to pay their last respect. India’s most senior military officer, General Rawat, his wife, and 11 armed forces personnel were killed in the crash of an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter near Kunur, Tamil Nadu.
He will be cremated with full military honour on Friday at the Bura Square in the Delhi camp. A total of 800 service personnel will attend the military funeral of the CDS. After the release of “The Last Post” and “Rouss” played by the trumpeters, the funeral pyre will be lit by his family. During this period, he will receive a 17-gun salute in accordance with the prescribed etiquette.
Interior Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, and DMK leaders A Raja and Kanimozhi, among others Political leaders paid tribute to CDS and his wife Madhulika Rawat.
