Honeywell Automation India has been selected by the Indian government to lead the Bangalore Safe City project under the Nirbhaya Fund. The project is an initiative of the Ministry of the Interior to create a safe, secure and empowered environment for women and girls in public places, enabling them to seek all opportunities without threats of gender-based violence or harassment.
The value of the Bangalore Safe City Project is 496.57 crore. Ashish Gaikwad, President of Honeywell India and General Manager of Honeywell Automation India, said: “For more than 30 years, Honeywell has been supporting the development of India with differentiated technologies and is committed to making our cities safer, smarter, More interconnected.
Honeywell will create an integrated command and control center to manage the most advanced video system with more than 7,000 cameras deployed in more than 3,000 locations throughout the city. The video system will provide advanced video analysis capabilities, including facial recognition, the “Dial 100” application and drones. Honeywell will also upgrade the existing Suraksha app at the City Police Department to help increase incident response rates and citizen participation.
Bangalore is one of eight cities selected by the government’s Safe City Project, which involves identifying crime hotspots against women and deploying various components, including infrastructure, technology adoption, and capacity building in the community through awareness-raising programs.
