IAF chopper crash updates: Army chief Naravane briefs Rajnath Singh

Earlier in the day, the Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed that an IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter carried by General Biping Rawat was involved in an accident while flying from Surur to Wellington, Tamil Nadu. When the helicopter crashed, there were 14 people on board, including 9 CDS officials. The Indian Air Force has ordered an investigation into the accident.

The body recovered from the helicopter crash site was taken to the military hospital in Wellington, Tamil Nadu. “The body found at the crash site between Coimbatore and Sulu where a military helicopter crashed has been taken to the military hospital in Wellington, Tamil Nadu,” the source told ANI.

“An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter carrying CDS Gen Bipin Rawat had an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. An investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident,” the IAF tweeted.

In addition, the Minister of Defense Rajnat Singh also visited the residence of General Biping Rawat.
