Kajol has discussed how the concept of celebrity has changed as a result of superstars in cinema and television using social media more frequently. The actor claimed that viewers are less interested in watching celebrities in movies or television series because of the way they share their life on social media.
Kajol occasionally uploads photos to Instagram. However, the star stays away from posting too much about her private life on the photo-sharing website. She currently has 730 posts on her Instagram feed and 12.6 million followers.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Kajol discussed how exposure on social media affects one’s chances of being famous. She stated, “It has been diluted by the increase in social media users. The only people on the large screen were the only people who were famous. You can now become well-known for a variety of things, such as your hairstyle or your nails. Today, fame can be achieved in a variety of ways. Fame itself has grown to be a widely used term.”
“Most individuals put their entire lives on social media and do that one thing all day long,” she continued. They spend half their time on television and half their time on social media. She continued, saying, “I actually admire that they are able to put in so much time and energy, but it can dilute your message. I’m not criticising them (stardom). Why would you go to the screen to watch someone if you can see them on social media?
Kajol recently went to a special screening of Gupt to commemorate the movie’s 25th anniversary of release. At the event, she was joined by both director Rajiv Rai and co-star Bobby Deol. She has now worked in the film industry for 30 years.
