The Ukraine government has contingency plans in place if President Volodymyr Zelensky is killed during the Russian invasion, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said. The United States is working on an interim plan to support a Ukrainian government without Zelenski.
This comes amid reports that he has survived three assassination attempts since Ukraine’s annexation by Russia.
Ukrainian President Zelensky, Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk and the entire government are “embodiment of this incredibly brave Ukrainian people,” Blinked said.
The U.S. needs to be prepared for this conflict to go on for some time, she says.
