Vijay Babu moved the Kerala high court on Friday seeking anticipatory bail. The court is likely to consider his bail petition later in the day. In his application, Babu said the woman actor who had lodged a complaint against him was trying to blackmail him.
A second case has been registered against Babu for revealing the identity of the survivor on social media. Police were expecting Babu to return from Dubai and surrender before police. The woman actor accused Babu of sexually abusing her on multiple ocassions by promising good roles in films.
They have taken his passport details and travel details as well as witness identification and their examination is pending, police told News Agency IBTimes India.
“More witnesses have been identified as of yesterday. Apart from that, if he does not come forward, we have already requested that his passport be impounded by the court. He is required to assist the investigation. We’ve also given him notice to come forward at his home. There were no other complaints filed against him.”
Police had also retrieved CCTV footage from various locations, according to the senior officer.
