According to news agency ANI, a lady advocate was brutally assaulted by her neighbour in Bagalkote Town Circle street over a property dispute. The man, identified as Mahantesh Cholachagudd, can be seen kicking and slapping her neighbour, Sangeeta Shikkeri, in a video that has gone viral.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, the assault occurred. She went to Mahantesh’s shop, where they got into an argument, which turned violent when the man began assaulting Sangeeta.
Despite her husband’s repeated pleas for assistance, no one came to her aid.
Hariprasad B.K., the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, shared the video and urged the police to arrest the accused immediately. The Congress leader claimed that the man assaulted the lawyer with the “support of a BJP leader,” citing the victim.
According to ANI, Mahantesh and Sangeeta’s families had previously feuded.
Mahantesh was detained for allegedly assaulting women. According to ANI, the accused is a photographer at Bagalkot’s University of Horticulture Sciences in Navanagar.
