Police in Queens, New York City arrest a 19-year-old youth for his alleged involvements in attacks on three Sikh men. This comes on the heels of the other suspect being formally charged this morning with hate crimes. “I am gratified to report that the NYPD has arrested the second suspect in Tuesday’s heinous crime,” tweeted Jenifer Rajkumar.

Vernon Douglas, 20, has been charged with multiple counts of robbery, assault, aggravated harassment and hate crimes. The incident took place close to the spot where the men were assaulted earlier this month.

India’s Consulate General had said it is ‘deeply disturbed’ by the attack on Indian diplomat Gurmeet Ramandeep Singh in New York. India has condemned the violent attack and is working with local authorities to ensure the well-being of the victim.
