Pakistan’s new PM Shehbaz Sharif responds to congratulatory message from PM Narendra Modi on Twitter. He says resolution of Kashmir issue will allow the two countries to focus on shared problems such as poverty and employment. Modi had linked any engagement with Pakistan to an environment free of terror.
“Let’s secure peace and focus on socio-economic development of our people,” he said. In his congratulatory message, Modi had said India “desires peace and stability in a region free of terror”.
Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has devoted more time to India in his first foreign policy speech than any other country, including China and the US. His election was boycotted by more than 100 MPs from former PM Imran Khan’s party — the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
