Jasprit Bumrah couldn’t have hoped for a better return to the field where he started in the Cricket Test. Four years later, he returned to the same venue to complete his seventh five-wicket wicket, making India a hit in history.

Mighty was impressed by Bumrah’s efforts on Wednesday, with former cricketers Michael Vaughan and Dale Steyn retaining their ultimate praise for the Indian pacer.

“How good is @Jaspritbumrah93!!! I think he’s the best player in the world right now… Bumrah gave India a perfect start to day 2, Aiden Markram in the second match of the day Fired with a great shot.

Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami then relinquished the middle order before Bumrah fought back again to dismiss Marco Jansen, Keegan Petersen and Lungi Ngidi as the pacers picked the seventh five-wicket in Test cricket. The figure of 5/42 recorded by Bumrah is also the best bowling figure for a Cape Indian fast bowler, surpassing the best record of 5/114 set by Sreesanth during the 2010/11 tour.

All seven fifers in Bumrah ran away from home. He is now tied for fourth with Irfan Pathan, an Indian striker who has taken the most five wickets away from home. The legendary Kapil Dev tops the list with 12 named after him, followed by Ishant Sharma (9) and Zaheer Khan (8).
