Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Thursday that India has ensured the supply of medicines to 123 partner countries despite their needs amid the Covid-19 epidemic. He said that India has also been active in global efforts to develop medical and vaccines to combat infection during the epidemic.
Harshvardhan Singh said this during a conversation with the health ministers of NAM (Non-Aligned Movement) countries. Director General of World Health Organization, Tedros was also present in this meeting. Harsh Vardhan said that despite our needs, during the Covid-19 epidemic, we have ensured supply of medicines to 123 partner countries including 59 NAM countries.
He also said that India has also been active in global efforts to develop therapeutics and vaccines to fight Covid-19 because we know and understand that no one is safe until everyone is safe.
The government is also being subjected to criticism on this issue due to the shortage of medicines and vaccines in the country. Questions also arose that when medicines are not being supplied in the country itself, then why is it sending this to other countries. Despite this, India did not hesitate to help others for the sake of humanity during the crisis.
