On Monday, India’s active Covid-19 cases surpassed 19,500, with 3,157 new cases reported in the previous 24 hours. According to health ministry data, 26 new Covid-related deaths have been reported, bringing the total death toll to 5,23,869 since the outbreak began.
In the last 24 hours, over 2,700 new recoveries have been reported. On Monday, the total number of recoveries reached 4,25,38,976, putting the national recovery rate at 98.74 percent.
The positivity rate was recorded at 4.89 per cent in the last 24 hours. No new deaths were reported in the city according to data shared by the city health department. Maharashtra witnessed 169 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday. Karnataka reported 104 fresh cases in the same period.
Update on vaccinations
According to health ministry data, over 4 lakh vaccine doses were administered in India in the last 24 hours. Over 71 thousand of these were booster vaccine doses. So far, 189.23 crore vaccine doses have been given out as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign.
