India registered 11,903 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours on Wednesday, and the total number of infections has reached 3,4308,140 since the pandemic began in January last year.
The number of new cases is 14.19% higher than Tuesday’s 10,423 cases. India’s death toll rose to 4,59,191 because it recorded 311 deaths in the past 24 hours. On Wednesday morning, the number of active cases in the country was 1,51,209, and the total number of recoveries was 3,36,97,740.
Since the start of vaccination in January, India has received more than 1.07 billion doses of vaccine. Among them, more than 4.1 million doses were injected on Tuesday. The World Health Organization is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to consider Bharat Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin for emergency use.
At the last meeting on October 26, the technical advisory group of the global health agency asked Bharat Biotech to make more clarifications in order to conduct a final risk-benefit assessment of Covaxin’s emergency use list.
