This is the sixth consecutive week that the virus has risen across the African continent. The WHO stated in its weekly report that there are approximately 3.1 million new Covid-19 cases worldwide, an increase of nearly 1% from the previous week. Approximately two-thirds of new infections (1.9 million) came from Europe alone, where cases have surged by 7%. According to data from the World Health Organization, the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Germany are among the countries that have reported a large number of new infections in the past few days.
