The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported on the morning of Wednesday (October 6, 2021) that India had reported 18,833 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, and the number of active people has now fallen to the lowest level in nearly 7 months.
The current number of active coronavirus cases in the country is 2,46,687, the lowest level in 203 days. According to the Ministry of Health, active cases accounted for less than 1% of the total cases, and it is currently 0.73%, the lowest level since March 2020. The daily increase in new coronavirus infections remained below 30,000 for the 12th consecutive day.
In the past 24 hours, 24,770 collections were recorded, bringing the total number of collections to 3,31,75,656. The current recovery rate is 97.94%. The death toll climbed to 4,49,538, and the new death toll was 278. The new death toll includes 151 in Kerala and 39 in Maharashtra. According to the Ministry of Health, more than 70% of COVID-19-related deaths are due to comorbidities. As many as 14,09,825 tests were conducted on Tuesday, bringing the country’s cumulative total of tests conducted so far to 57,68,03,867.
The daily positive rate is 1.34%, which has been below 3% in the past 37 days. According to the Ministry of Health, the weekly positive rate is 1.68%, which has been below 3% in the past 103 days. At the same time, after 59,48,360 doses of vaccines have been vaccinated in the past 24 hours, so far, driven by the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination, the country’s cumulative doses have exceeded 920 million.
The Ministry of Health informed that states and UT still have a balance of more than 69,300 and unused COVID-19 vaccine doses.
