India achieved another milestone in vaccination on Thursday. To date, the country has received up to 840 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, the fastest in the world. In order to make vaccination easier, the government, nearly eight months after its launch, allowed people with limited mobility, different abilities and special needs to receive Covid injections at home on Thursday.
According to data from the United Ministry of Health, as many as 66% of adults in the country received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine; both doses were 23%.
Before the holiday, India reported that as new cases surged above 30,000 again on Friday, the number of daily coronavirus infections rose sharply.
