India recorded 3,47,254 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases on Friday, according to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry. Data from the ministry further showed that the country also recorded 703 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Active cases of Covid-19 cross the 2 million mark as the Omicron-led surge continues in the country. Health ministry figures show active cases have risen to 20,18,825, the highest in 235 days. According to the data, active cases account for 5.23% of the total number of infections.
The total number of cases now stands at 3,85,66,027, according to figures released by the Union Ministry of Health. The related death toll was 488,396.
The ministry also informed that the number of Omicron cases reached 9,692. Daily Omicron cases on Friday were up 4.36% since yesterday, according to the data.
