India recorded 3,45,028 fresh cases last week (June 21-27), down nearly 19 per cent from the previous seven days. This was also the lowest count of cases in 14 weeks since March 15-21. However, there has been a discernible slowing of the decline in cases. In each of the four weeks prior to the last week, cases had declined by around 30 per cent.
With 58,578 recoveries in the last 24 hours, a total of 2,93,09,607 have recovered from Covid-19 taking the recovery rate to 96.80 per cent while the number of active cases in the country stands at 5,72,994.
Covid Deaths Continue To Decline
With 979 new Covid-19 deaths, total fatalities are at 396,730, as per the ministry data. Deaths due to Covid-19 continued to fall sharply across the country, with the week ending Sunday registering a 38 per cent decline in fatalities.
