India reports 7,350 fresh Covid-19 cases, daily tally down for 3rd straight day

Data from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Family Welfare in India show that the number of new daily cases in India has fallen for the third consecutive day, as 7,350 cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have been reported in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest news from the Ministry of Health, at least 202 people died during this period. The new figures brought the number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 34,697,860, and the death toll climbed to 475,636.

In the past 46 days, the daily increase in Covid-19 cases has been recorded below 15,000. The daily positive rate is 0.86%-it has been below 2% in the past 70 days.

The number of active Covid-19 cases in India is 91,456, the lowest level in the past 561 days. According to data from the Ministry of Health, active cases also accounted for less than 1% of the total number of cases, at 0.26, which is the lowest level since March 2020. With the recovery of 7,973 people in the past 24 hours, Covid-19 has risen to 34,130,768 in the country. The country’s Covid-19 recovery rate is currently 98.37%.

In the country’s ongoing vaccination campaign, 1.3317 billion doses of vaccine have been vaccinated so far.

At the same time, the total number of Omicrons in India rose to 38 after the first infections were reported in Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh and Kerala on Sunday. On Sunday, the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka also recorded a newest case of a variant of the coronavirus.

In India, Omicron cases have been detected in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi and Chandigarh.

Based on early data, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) is more spread than the Delta strain and reduces vaccine efficiency.
