Amid tensions with China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), India has conducted four missile tests and has also deployed Nirbhay missiles at the LAC.The Narendra Modi government has also approved the induction and deployment of the 700-km range surface-to-surface supersonic Shaurya strategic missile. Recently, India had tested the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV).
The HSTDV will be developed as a carrier vehicle for hypersonic and long-range cruise missiles.
The testing and deployment of indigenous missiles show that the Modi government will not remain silent if China demonstrates aggression to carry out the illegal territorial expansion along the LAC.
