India successfully tested a long-range supersonic missile-assisted torpedo (SMART) on the coast of Balasol in Odisha on Monday.
A defense official stated that the weapon system is being developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for the Indian Navy.
DRDO said in a statement: “The system is designed to enhance the anti-submarine naval warfare capabilities far beyond the conventional range of torpedoes.” On Saturday, the country successfully tested an off-zone anti-submarine missile launched by a locally-developed helicopter.
