The United States recognises that India and Russia are “natural allies” with stable ties, but India will not allow its relationship with a third country to jeopardise US “core national interests,” according to defence minister Rajnath Singh.
“I don’t think Russia will affect India-US ties,” Singh said in an interview with Hindustan Times on Monday night in Washington, when asked about the discomfort about India’s position following the Ukraine crisis in the US. The United States recognises that India and Russia are natural allies and that our ties are strong. India will also take great care to ensure that the United States’ core national interests are not harmed as a result of our relations with another country.”
