India’s daily Covid cases drop below 10,000-mark with 8,013 new infections

India’s daily number of Covid-19 cases fell below 10,000 on Monday as the country recorded 8,013 cases in the past 24 hours. The current total is 42,924,130, according to the Ministry of Health. The last time daily cases fell below 10,000 was on December 28, up from a one-day jump of 9,195 last year.

Daily Covid-19 cases have now been below 100,000 for 22 consecutive days.

The daily death toll remained above 100 at 119. The national death toll now stands at 513,843, according to the Daily Bulletin. The country’s death rate is 1.20%.

The country currently has a total of 1.02.601 active Covid-19 cases. The ministry’s figures also showed that active cases accounted for 0.24% of the total number of infections.

The number of active Covid-19 cases fell by 8,871 in 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was 1.11%, while the weekly positivity rate was 1.17%.

The cumulative number of recoveries has risen to 4.23.07.686 after 16,765 people recovered from the viral illness in the past 24 hours. The current recovery rate is 98.56%.

Meanwhile, 76.74 million doses have been administered in the region as part of a national vaccination campaign.
