The Supreme Court on Friday termed as “arbitrary” its decision to fix June 16 for the INI CET 2021 exam and directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to conduct the PG medical entrance examination after a month.
A vacation bench of Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice MR Shah gave this direction on the petition of doctors seeking admission in postgraduate medical and disposed of the matter. The petition had challenged the notification fixing the date of June 16 for INI CET 2021 exam.
The bench said that the examination needs to be deferred due to difficulties being faced by the candidates due to the examination and due to COVID duty many doctors working at places away from the examination centres.
There are about 80,000 candidates for 815 seats in this national level exam conducted by AIIMS. These 815 seats are in eight institutes of AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru and PGIMER Chandigarh.
