Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar hosted a dinner at their home in Mumbai on Monday. The couple first officially registered their marriage and celebrated with family and friends later in the evening.
Filmmaker Farah Khan shared several photos from the dinner. She is pictured with Honey Irani, Rhea Chakraborty, Zoya Akhtar, Sajid Khan and Shabana Azmi. Shibani’s sister, Anusha Dandekar, also shared a video of the bride hanging out with friends. Farhan’s father, Javed Akhtar, was also in attendance.
Despite paparazzi pleading, Farhan and Shibani did not pose for pictures outside their home. Shibani wore a lilac dress with a diamond necklace around her neck. Farhan was wearing black clothes.
The couple posed for a photo after registering their marriage. They were spotted wearing matching pink outfits and even handing out candy to the paparazzi.
Neither of them shared photos of the wedding on social media. The ceremony took place at Khandala at Javed and Shabana’s farmhouse. Farhan and Shibani got married under the tree canopy. They exchanged vows and later enjoyed the dance with the guests. Actor Hrithik Roshan was also spotted dancing with his Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara co-star Farhan.
Farhan and Shibani dated for four years before deciding to get married. Earlier, Farhan’s mother, Honey Irani, opened up about Shibani in an interview with The Times of India. “Shibani is lovely and cheerful and beautiful; she is madly in love with Farhan. Farhan is madly in love with her. I just hope they can make each other happy and make each other happy,” she said.
She also said that as parents, they are not the disruptive type and will be approved for anything they want. “The most important thing is that they are all happy. I just hope they have a good life; it is great to see that they are tying the knot now. They are very serious about each other,” she added.
Farhan was previously married to Adhuna Bhabhani. They have two daughters, Shakya, 21, and Akira, 14.
