The Ministry of Science and Technology stated that the MOU aims to establish a science museum in selected CSIR laboratories to stimulate people’s curiosity about science. The center will establish science museums across the country to promote scientific thinking among children and youth, Federal Minister Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) (Donah) in the presence of Singh and G Kishan Reddy, Minister of the Northeast Alliance for Culture, Tourism and Development. Singh stated that the Memorandum of Understanding is the right step and will shape the future of science communication.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the MOU aims to establish a science museum in selected CSIR laboratories to stimulate public curiosity and awareness of science. At the event, Singh praised the new initiative of CSIR and IIT-Bombay to establish a virtual laboratory for school children. The Minister also praised the decision of CSIR and NCSM to establish a museum within the NPL to highlight the technologies and initiatives that CSIR has created in the past eighty years. Singh emphasized that museums should not be static, but dynamic and fascinating, becoming a melting pot of innovation, and said, “We must tap the interest and excitement of students and youth.”
