In a major development towards the expansion of the Jodhpur Civil Airport, 37 acres of land near the Jodhpur Air Force Station were handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Tuesday. In return, the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation allocated a similarly sized parcel of land to the Indian Air Force.
State Defense Officer (Jodhpur Circle) Abhinav Singh said that the Air Force demolished all its facilities on this land and eventually handed over this parcel of land to the civilian airport for expansion.
Singh said: “There is a total of 2.42 acres of forest land and AAI will process the diversion of this land under the terms of the MoU.”
This land will allow the airport to expand its facilities to accommodate more passenger aircraft.
This land transfer is the result of a memorandum of understanding signed in 2017 between various stakeholders, according to which the JMC was to transfer 37 acres of land to the Air Force by the Indian Air Force in exchange for land from it. size. for the Air Force.
