The German figure skating team chose an interesting outfit for Friday’s competition at the ongoing Beijing Winter Olympics. In the rhythm dance category of the competition, Tim Dick and Katherina Mueller played the roles of The Joker and Harley Quinn.

The two contestants came to the rink, Tim in Joker’s purple and Katherine in Harry’s pink outfit and makeup. Then they danced to Britney Spears’ famous song “Toxic.” The combination of clothing and music confuses many sports fans.

While competitors often opt for catchy music in figure skating competitions, clothing is often more subtle and conservative. So this is an unexpected choice for many. Fans took to social media to express their enjoyment of the routine.

“Anyone else see figure skaters dressed like Joker and Harley Quinn please tell me I’m not hallucinating,” one viewer tweeted. Others couldn’t believe it. One fan tweeted: “I can’t believe Germany brought a Joker/Harlequin themed ice dance routine to their rhythm dance. #Olympics.”

Another fan joked that news and tweets about the routine made them realize the Winter Olympics were on the way. The Beijing Winter Olympics began on Friday, February 4 and will run until February 20.

The Joker and Harley Quinn are DC’s popular characters, appearing in multiple movies and TV shows over the years. The duo’s most recent on-screen appearance was in “Suicide Squad,” played by Jared Leto and Margot Robbie.
