President Ram Nath Kovind offered his condolences for the deaths of those killed in the Kanpur bus accident.
The president wishes those injured in the accident a speedy recovery.
In a tweet today, Rashtrapati Bhavan informed: “Deeply saddened by the news of the many casualties in the Kanpur bus accident. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this incident. Wish the injured a speedy recovery At least five people were killed and several injured after an electric bus lost control near the Tat Mill intersection in Kanpur and struck several bystanders on Sunday, local police were notified.
“Three cars and many bicycles were destroyed by the bus in the accident. The bus driver is absconding. We are looking for him,” said Pramod Kumar, deputy chief of East Kanpur police.
“The injured have been transferred to a nearby hospital and an investigation into the matter has been initiated,” the DCP added.
