The secrets of Bollywood are the focus of a new online series being developed by filmmaker Karan Johar. The performance was unveiled during the D23 Expo, a global Disney fan gathering, on Friday night. It will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar (Saturday morning in India). The streaming service announced three new shows, including a continuation of Karan’s talk show Koffee With Karan, under the title Showtime.
Speaking on the content of the show, Karan stated, “I am thrilled to partner with Disney+ Hotstar for our new collaboration, launched at the esteemed D23 Expo. In addition to yet another thrilling season of my favourite programme, Koffee With Karan, I’m excited to unveil a brand-new Dharma Production series, Showtime, which will reveal the biggest trade secrets of India’s entertainment industry.
According to the Disney+ Hotstar overview of the programme, “Bollywood is the land of dreams—dreams that are dreamed with eyes wide open. Drama series Showtime highlights all of the conflicts that occur off-screen for control of the show’s authority.
An in-depth examination of the battle lines that are established and crossed to keep the cameras rolling and the audiences applauding. There is only one monarch who occupies the seat, but what good is a throne if no one has to battle for it? Therefore, it’s time for action! ”
At the event, the platform unveiled a new film called Mahabharata in addition to Showtime and Koffee With Karan. Gaurav Banerjee, Head of Content for Disney+ Hotstar and HSM Entertainment Network, commented on the upcoming Indian lineup, saying, “We couldn’t have asked for a more profound curtain raiser on our upcoming lineup at a globally coveted platform like D23 Expo 2022, where we have the opportunity to share the glimpse of soon to be launched shows Showtime, Mahabharata and Koffee with Karan Season 8.”
