Kharkiv: 10 die, 35 hurt in rocket strikes, Zelenskyy says protecting Kyiv key

At least 10 people were killed and 35 injured in a rocket attack by Russian troops in the center of Ukraine’s second-largest city on Tuesday. Interior Ministry adviser Anton Hrashchenko said in a social media post that if the rubble was cleared, the number of casualties would increase.

“The rubble will be removed and there will be more casualties,” he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a Russian missile hit the central square of the border town, calling it a “war crime” and “blatant terror”.

He added that on the sixth day of the Russian invasion, “defending the capital is now the country’s main priority”.

An Indian student has died after being heavily shelled by Russian troops in Kharkiv during the day.

The head of the regional administration, Ole Sinihubov, said the administrative headquarters in the city center came under fire from Russia a day earlier.

Pictures posted online showed the building’s exterior and interior were badly damaged by the powerful explosion, which also blew part of the roof. The state emergency agency said six people, including a child, were injured in the attack.

At least 11 people were killed and dozens injured in shelling of the city on Monday, Sinehubov said.
