Markets extended their sell-off for the third week in a row as of February 25, as a combination of factors including the Russia-Ukraine crisis, rising crude oil prices, F&O expirations, and continued FII sell-offs led to high volatility.
Over the past week, the BSE Sensex lost 1,974.45 points (3.41%) to end at 55,858.52, while the Nifty50 lost 617.9 points (3.57%) to end at 16,658.40.
All industry indices closed in negative territory, with Nifty Media down 7.6%, PSU Banks down 5.7% and Autos down 4.6%.
The BSE midcap index was down 2.5% and the small cap index was down 4.6%.
As many as 141 small-cap stocks fell 10-22%, including Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), Aegis Logistics, Urja Global, Sadbhav Infrastructure Projects, Soril Infra Resources, Olectra Greentech, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Syncom Formulations, Gayatri Projects, GE T&D India, R Systems International, Bharat Road Network, Elgi Equipments, Brightcom Group, Cantabil Retail India.
