According to reports, LG Display successfully won part of the “iPhone 14” display from Samsung, whose screen uses LTPO TFT OLED.

It was previously reported that LG Display plans to produce low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) OLED screens for Apple.

This screen technology has been used in iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, provided by Samsung. LTPO TFT OLED allows a 120Hz refresh rate, and Apple uses it as part of its ProMotion display technology.

According to The Elec report, LG Display has won screen orders “despite its small size,” but it is said that this is vital to the South Korean company because it competes with rival BOE.

Elec also said that LG Display will provide “perforated display technology” on at least some screens. If correct, this may confirm previous reports that the “iPhone 14 Pro” model lost the notch and adopted a punch-hole design.

According to reports, LG Display participated in the development of the Apple iPhone 13 screen. However, the company did not win any orders.
