The Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 on Monday midnight, with 311 votes in favor and 80 against. Home Minister Amit Shah said in the House that the rights of Muslims have not been taken away in the bill. The bill provides for citizenship of Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Christians, Hindus, Parsis of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
