Former world champion Meerabai Chanu won the gold medal in the 49kg category of the National Weightlifting Championship on Tuesday, lifting her own national record by lifting 203kg. The 25-year-old from Manipur lifted 88 kg in his second attempt in snatch, while he lifted a total of 203 kg with 115 kg in clean and jerk. With this effort Tuesday, Mirabai has moved up to fourth place in the world rankings after China’s Jiang Huihua (212 kg) and How Xihui (211 kg) and Korea’s Ri Song Gum (209 kg).
