The defendant, 30-year-old Surinder Kumar from Jaitu Village, Faridkot, was arrested in a raid in the Lakkar Bazaar area after receiving the report. In addition to a large amount of drugs, about 45 empty bags and a small weighing machine were found from the Mehndi artist.
Currently, Kumar is staying near Gurudwara Dukhniwaran in Prem Nagar.
STF (Ludhiana range) inspector Harbans Singh said: “The defendant has been supplying heroin for about four years. He has registered three drug trafficking cases.”
“The defendant was a Mehndi artist on the roadside, but he made very little money, so he started supplying heroin. He was also addicted to drugs,” the inspector said, adding that the defendant’s mobile phone was also confiscated.
The STF police station in Mohali registered a case under the Narcotics and Psychotropics Act.
