This year the monsoon in the national capital Delhi can knock 12 days before the normal date i.e. on June 15. This information was given by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
Kuldeep Srivastava, head of IMD’s Regional Forecasting Center, said that earlier in the year 2008 also, the monsoon had reached Delhi on June 15.
He said, “The conditions are favorable for the early arrival of monsoon. This time it (monsoon) may reach Delhi on June 15.”
The IMD said that a low pressure area is persisting over Northwest Bay of Bengal. It is very likely to move towards Odisha, Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh in the next three to four days.
“Due to favorable weather conditions, Southwest Monsoon is expected to cover the entire country except South Rajasthan and Kutch region of Gujarat during next five to six days,” the IMD said.
The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of rain from June 12 to 15 in most areas of many states of the country.
There is a possibility of rain at most places in Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal region of Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra from Saturday to Tuesday.
