Fans of Motorola’s interpretation of foldable phones received an unexpected Christmas present last month when a Lenovo executive (remember Lenovo owns Motorola) confirmed that the company was actually working on the original foldable Razr for 2019 and its successor to its 5G-enabled sequel from 2020.
Today, some specs of the upcoming foldable are said to have leaked. First off, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset is said to be running the show, which will mark the first time Motorola’s foldable phone gets a proper flagship chipset, since the first two iterations were stuck on the 7-series Qualcomm lineup.
So this is a very solid start. The SoC will be paired with 6, 8, and 12 GB of RAM, depending on which version of the phone you buy. Again, you’ll have three storage capacity options: 128, 256, and 512GB.
The Razr 3 is also rumored to have a full HD+ AMOLED main (foldable) screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a center punch hole for the selfie cam, an external secondary screen (spec unknown), NFC, UWB, and it will start from the 6th Start the day with Android 12.
According to an unnamed source leaked today, the device is going global, with a release “at least” in China, Europe and North America. With the floodgates now open, expect to hear more about it soon.
