Mumtaz has spoken out again about her affair, which occurred shortly after her husband Mayur Madhvani had one. The 74-year-old actor last appeared in the 1990s.
Mumtaz made her film debut in 1958 at the age of 11 with Sone Ki Chidiya, and went on to star in several hit films with Rajesh Khanna. Onscreen, Rajesh and Mumtaz were a popular couple. She returned to the screen in 1990 with Aandhiyan, after a 13-year absence, but then stopped acting.
When Pinkvilla asked her about the rumours about her husband’s affair, she said, “It’s not uncommon for men to have affairs behind their wives’ backs. Except for one, which my husband lacked. I respect him because he told me about it himself. He revealed that he had developed feelings for a girl in the United States. He was born and raised in the United States. ‘Mumtaz, you’re my wife,’ he insisted. I adore you and will continue to adore you. I’ll never abandon you.’ Because I was a little ziddi (obstinate), thodi nakchadi (difficult) thi, the problem arose. However, it is now a forgotten tale. Ek baar Khuda bhi karta hai maaf toh zindagi mein. I live like a princess. My husband has never failed to provide for me.”
She also discussed herself “To be honest, I started to feel lonely after the episode. The main thodi rubabwali (brave) thi. I was hurt. As a result, I flew to India. This isn’t the first time she’s spoken out about her extramarital affairs. She had previously revealed to DNA that shortly after her marriage, her husband had an affair with another woman. She went on to say that she soon got into another relationship, which only added to her problems.
Mumtaz had to be admitted to the hospital earlier this month, where she stayed for seven days and was on a drip for the entire week. She also discussed the difficulties she had getting injected in her left hand due to the lack of lymph nodes. Her lymph nodes had previously been removed during her treatment for breast cancer.
